Journal Jar Christmas

Describe the Christmas that is most meaningful to you.....

It is interesting to me that Christmas is most memorable because of the people involved...

I look at this first picture and see the kids excitedly showing each other what they have and parents watching and taking pictures with love in their hearts that they were able to provide for their family and bring simple joy...

I remember playing with this farm and a similar gas station for many years...so even though it isn't about things, things do bring back memories.

Now this Christmas was very memorable due to an event because of a thing.... That big green and black turtle pictured (I am so glad to have that picture) We as kids were so excited to get a really big present for the youngest member of the family and she was excited to be receiving the biggest present too. So excited that she came in before Christmas and said "I had a dream! about my present. It is green and black and soft" (I guess I shouldn't put the quotation marks because I can't remember what she said exactly) However that was just too close to the real thing so we went and looked and there was a little finger hole in the wrapping....she couldn't hold it in so she said that she had a dream.

Other things about Christmas.... as pictured in the previous post getting the Christmas tree was a fun thing ... waiting for the cows to be milked before going out was not a fun thing ... having a bishop for most of my childhood that had a birthday at Christmas time was a fun thing....

The year Dale went away to college in Denver was a memorable year because he worked in a candy factory and brought some yummy candy home....and a huge pink teddy bear for his littlest sister Julie and what really made it memorable is that he was coming home by train and we sat in the train station half the night....it was exciting however the old wooden benches weren't very comfortable to try to sleep on.

Some special gifts over the years .... my doll house that my Dad and brothers made, BamBam and Pebbles that my aunt sewed clothes for, while my Mom did something else for her kids....swapping houses to hide the gifts so that if found the gifts wouldn't be the ones we were getting.
My uncle David getting a box of chocolates for Christmas and having him find and eat them without disturbing the cellophane wrapping each year..
How about the fact that we went shopping at the mall the day before Christmas and were desperately trying to find or decide on something almost to closing time.
There are so many memories...
I am going to switch to more modern similar in reasons

Our Christmas tree as with most of the grandchildren would be covered with ornaments that grandma made over the years....I wish I would get busy and do it too. Remember the sheep, the pigs, the zoo animals, the candy cane reindeer, the peanut reindeer, the sleds, etc. Thanks mom for still being a part of our Christmas.
While in Boise we had a great baby sitter for the boys and her Dad would become Santa ... she brought him over one year as his helper and he was forever more the real Santa and she was his helper which meant that some day my boys knew they could be his helper....all other Santa's were just pretending in order to help the real one.

A memory that is the true spirit of Christmas in my book was my daughter opening up a gift of a baby blanket that her brother had made for her...
Christmas is a gathering and giving of self time. So now after putting these thoughts together the most memorable begins with a mother bearing a child.....and then that child going on to give the greatest gift of all to all. What a marvelous way to celebrate His great gift to us....getting together and giving to others as he did.
What are some momories that you have a different Christmas.....
