Grandma Ottie had a wonderful yard for a kid. One large area was roses - this brought back the memory that Dad used to get a bud on Sundays and put it in his lapel. (people don't do that any more) He loved flowers as much or more than Mom. Back to the yard - there were too many roses of every kind and they had thorns, but as a kid you could carefully crawl in and under and be in heaven from the many scents. The other large area of her yard was berries - same problem so many thorns. But as a kid you could crawl under carefully and eat your heart out. Both were lovely.
